Earlier, we spoke about a whole-body steam bath which helps in opening the pores of the skin and monoid or any such bacterial infections can be cured. There is also a local steam bath which is related to a specific or particular part of the body in a therapeutic way. In the affected body part only the steam is given for example for the ones having muscular pain, joint pain, shoulder pain, frozen shoulders, knee pain, slipped disk, arthritic pain, etc the steam can be given as local steaming to those parts. The local steam can be found in the home itself.

The local steam is really useful as it is handy as well as pocket friendly. If used for a particular part too it is beneficial.

It is useful for face steaming after facials or any other facial treatments. It enhances the face and gives good results. As to remove blackheads, pimples and whiteheads from your face it is recommended to use this therapy.

Even when you’ve applied a hair mask on your hair you can steam that part for better results such as improved hair texture, lower hair fall, lesser dandruff and smoothness in the hair.

Before going for a steam bath make sure you take your normal bath and after the therapy too take a shower of normal temperature or cold water for good results.

Before the therapy tries to drink 2–3 glasses of water at normal temperature because during steam the temperature rises which can cause dehydration. The ones who have complained of water retention should consume water more.

To the BP and Heart patients who will be taking steam make sure their head area and chest area are covered with a cloth so that the temperature is increased in other required parts but not in the head and chest area as it will increase their palpitation levels which again is harmful to them.

To the ones consuming alcohol and then going for the steam bath is dangerous too. Try to avoid that.

Coming to the duration part if you’re going for relaxation and healthy steaming try to have it for 10–15 minutes only and for twice or thrice in a month only. And if for the specific part then weekly steaming is recommended. Until you’re cured with your particular joint, muscular or back pain go for regular steaming of about 7–8 minutes. Make sure you take follow-ups of any chronic patients or heart patients during the steaming about their comfort and discomfort in the therapy. As during the process, some may even faint and if they’re in that state for 15 mins it could increase the higher risk of a heart attack.

After any exercise or gym people prefer to take a bath or steam for relaxation. It is necessary to take steam and baths but it relaxes and lowers the body as well as the circulatory system is not charged up you should not do any physical or heavy activities for about 1 to 1.5 hours which can irritate the muscles.

The most important thing to maintain is the hygiene in the steam area. One should not use a used towel. Make sure the place you’re seating is clean. There are no germs or bacteria present. There should not be any insects.

Also, if the area is not clean and the before-steamed person may have skin problems then that could transfer to you.

Make sure if you’ve any cuts or wound then cover them with bandages if small and if it is bigger then do not have a steam bath.

Steam is not good for pregnant women. After her delivery, she can have a steam bath which will be very much beneficial for her.
