Elements of the Human Body
In Indian philosophy, the 5 elements of the human body are water, fire, earth, air and space. It is known as panchmahabhutas. It consists of 72% of water, 12% of the earth, 6% of air, 4% of fire and others as space(ether). If a person faces any imbalances in these 5 elements, then it may affect the structure of the body and we face diseases and problems in the body.
When we face the imbalance in earth’s elements of the body the type of problems we face are as follows:
- Hair loss
- Weakness
- Cholesterol increase
- Body pain
- Weight gain
- Weight loss
- Mental illness

Solutions to the problems:
Walking barefoot in the garden/parks. So that we meet Earth. For example, if someone has an imbalance in water elements then they’ll face the problem of asthma. Also, when someone faces a glandular problem, it is because of an imbalance in water elements only. When we take foot baths, spinal baths, immersed baths, etc. are types of hydrotherapy treatments. When we feel swelling or fluid retention in our body it is because of water element imbalance. When there is blood clotting, blood pressure or blood thinning etc. is due to water imbalance only. Even dehydration is due to water elements. Whenever we are stressed or depressed, we are required to drink water. Air element leads to a problem in acidity, gas problem or indigestion. Its main source is carrom seeds (ajwain) and add asafoetida (Hing) with rock Salt rub all these 3 on your palm and then eat it and drink water. All the air element problems will be solved. The palm acts as a solar point to our issues. Air element affects the nervous system of the body. Depression, anxiety, stress and high blood pressure are the main issues faced by individuals due to air elements. Even all our emotional problems are dealt with with deep breathing and air management. And it is necessary to do a breathing exercise that is Pranayama. It balances all the elements of the body. A person should practice pranayama for 20 mins a day at least.
In the fire element person’s hunger control effects. If the person didn’t eat when he/she is hungry then they get angry. The person being angry and hungry is the issue of fire element imbalance. Whenever a person gets angry their body dries. Only water can cool down a person’s emotions. Because of fire, we face skin problems too. Our skin dries out. Having less water in the body also affects the fire element. The mental stress faced by a person is also due to this element only.
To avoid fire elements, one needs to have as follows:

· Eat cucumber
· Eat watermelon
· Eat bottled gourd
. Eat ash gourd (wax gourd or raw pumpkin)
These things provide water to your body and cool down the range of fire elements and balance it. The space element is controlled by meditation only way.
The purities of all the elements can be done by cleaning and purifying the visible things connected to our body through these elements.
But for the ones we cannot see how can we purify them are as follows:
Internal purity can be done by Pranayama. One should go to open spaces for fresh air to breathe and practice it. During holidays either visit villages or the place where there is less crowd. Also, fasting affects our body with better health improvement.
During winter we don’t see fire elements or heat when we see outside. Therefore, whenever we see the sun during winter, we run to absorb the heat and feel delighted seeing it. Scientifically, our ancestors made it a ritual that it is a religious aspect to worship Sun as God but everything has a reason behind it and hence, the reason is above. Even the Hindus during hawan (ritual) generate peace in the house. The reason behind it is the fire element. It is also said that to burn camphor in the house this is because it purifies the house and balances fire element. Whenever we light up diya or light incense sticks in the house is because generating fire elements.
When we come to Indian food the water percentage is in equal proportion. We don’t eat dry food like bread, pizzas or burgers instead we prefer having a mixture of fruits and vegetables which are healthier.

Even in dal, veggies we make we add water which is complete addition of water. The fruits and vegetables we eat have 70% of water and which balances the ratio of our body.
If the body has a lot of water element, then prefers hot food to balance it. And to balance the fire element do deep breathing and prefer food which is digestible. The water element and fire element are enemies and the air element and water element are friends. And the space element does not disrupt anything.
