Diabetes revesal (part 2)

A case study observed by us was that a patient was under our observation of diabetes and asked us whether they can eat mangoes in summer or not. Does their sugar level increase after eating mango? They had the mindset that if they eat mango sugar will increase. It is clear that sugar increases after having any type of fruit but according to their glycemic index. Every fruit has a type of sugar called ‘fructose’. Fruit such as chikoo, papaya, apple, etc. has fructose with glucose. This fructose doesn’t dissolve in blood, thus it can’t increase the blood sugar level. One should eat fruits according to seasons that are seasonal fruits that are available for breakfast.

Some patients haven’t even tasted mangoes for years just because their doctors told them to avoid them but for a particular period of time to observe reactions in the body. So we don’t let patients believe in us blindly but with trust in results.

If you are a practitioner of naturopathy or you are going to practice it in future then the question of eating fruits given by the doctor and avoiding those fruits recommended by the doctor earlier and then you are suggesting those will be confusing for them. This is because of the fructose present in the fruits. We even should suggest breakfast for the patients according to their body weight only. For example, if a person’s weight is 80 kg then the breakfast of that person should be 900 grams. A person can have more of it or less of it. Consider it as a medicine because in Naturopathy we say ‘Let food be thy medicine’. Advise that person to have at least 900 grams or more of it as per its weight for a better start of the day and a healthy lifestyle. In the morning you can have a cup of tea if you have a habit so but have it without milk. Ask that person to eat ginger every day in the morning before eating it should be the size of your nail. Make your patient chew the ginger and slurp the juice from it and after which swallow it. And ask them to eat 8–10 Tulsi leaves every day and later have black tea as routine. Up till 12 in the morning consume only fruits. The reason for having fruits every day is because the covers of those fruits are 20–30 grams which cover more of your breakfast and is healthy.

Now we come to the lunch part which can be bifurcated into 2 parts that is plate 1 and plate 2. The plated one should be a vegetable salad (cucumber, tomato, carrots, etc.). Accordingly, the quantity of the same should be 350–400 grams before lunch and before dinner too. And in plate 2 will be your normal routine food with less salt and less spice. Try to avoid wheat and eat bajra or jowar chapatis. To person having diabetes should avoid wheat because it has high carbohydrates which can increase sugar levels.

Further in evening snacks advise the person to eat sprouts about 80–90 grams. Besides which any type of nuts.

For dinner follow the same plate 1 and plate 2 before dinner have salads which are plates and then after that have the normal food in the routine. It should be of less salt and one grain. After which we can see the control of sugar level in the patient.
