EYE CARE (PART 1)

Eye this organ is great gift by God to human being. Make sure you take the best and proper care of your eyes. It is recommended to donate eyes after the death of a person. Since, the ones who cannot see through their eyes can see this beautiful world. There are two things one can do first, to take utmost care of the eyes you have and secondly, one can donate eyes after death.  

 Disease of eyes  

  • Glaucoma – It is the progressive optic-nerve damage to the eyes. Glaucoma is not a single disease it is a group of diseases. A person starts feeling blurred vision, some pinching pain in the eyesight, cannot see the distance things, and sideways things. The ones who are having diabetes mellitus are more prone to get glaucoma or sometimes they are the only patient of Glaucoma is a wrong conception whereas any person at any age can face this disease.   

 

Diagnose 

  • Blurred vision 
  • Unclear vision 
  • Broad or angled vision 

These are basics when we face glaucoma. It is intraocular pressure of eyes. It is as similar as blood pressure. If the blood pressure of the person is below 21 mm (about 0.83 in)/Hg, then the person is at risk of having glaucoma.  

 Causes 

  • The first cause is the parental history that is hereditary problem of the person.  
  • The second is high blood pressure, that is the person with hypertension. In which the high blood pressure is 140-180 mm/Hg and low blood pressure is 90-100 mm (about 3.94 in) /Hg if the patients are in continuous medication but still, they’ll be prone to this disease. 
  • The third thing is the heavy injuries in the eyes which are more prone to get glaucoma.  
  • The ones having steroids, or any internal issues can also have this disease. 

 

To understand glaucoma Science help us to categorize it in 4 types 

1.Congenital glaucoma: This occurs when in the uterus of the pregnant women. The newborn after birth loses its eyesight or has major difficulty in seeing. It is a rare cause of disease.  

2.Wide angle glaucoma: Generally, glaucoma is caused due to aqueous humor fluid. The secretion of this fluid is in proper flow and due to which one cannot have glaucoma problem. If it is in excessive amounts, it gets stuck in a place where it can create problems with vision.   

  1. Narrow angle glaucoma: It is a type of glaucoma that develops suddenly and can lead to sudden and permanent loss of sight. It creates narrow eyesight vision. 
  2. Secondary glaucoma: Generally, any eye diseases which can cause glaucoma is called secondary glaucoma. 

There are two main cells that are responsible for vision rods and cones. When the fluids are stuck these cells are affected. According to Science, 99.5% of persons’ glaucoma can be cured with the help of medications. 0.5% of the person can lose their eyesight or face blindness with improper care. Basic signs and symptoms in these cases are mild pain, redness, blurred vision, photophobia, difficulty in color perceptions, sometimes nausea and vomiting, edema of cornea and pupil dilation. Whenever a person faces such signs and symptoms it is advised to immediately consult an eye specialist or ophthalmologist so that one can be aware of the problems at the initial stage and can be cured. There is certain type of steroid drugs which are also responsible if one uses it for long period of time which can be fatal.  

Tests  

  • Ocular history test 
  • Tonometry test  
  • Ophthalmoscopy test 
  • Gonioscopy test 
  • Slit lamp examination  

Medications  

Beta blockers will be suggested by the doctors as per the examinations and tests of the eyes. Normally, it cannot be suggested by any person.   

 Naturopathic treatment   

Anuloma villoma pranayama should be practiced everyday 30 mins for 30-60 days at initial stages after the signs and symptoms detected.  

Another remedy is taking 1 tablespoon of onion juice, ginger juice and lemon juice mix each in three tablespoons of honey strain it and add in the jar and store it. Make sure it has dropper and you apply it twice a day single drop. It is an alternative therapy. 

Sound and enough sleep are the best therapy for glaucoma. 6-8 hours is much needed.  

Another therapy is mud therapy which has the property of absorption and can control the ocular pressure of the eyes. One can place the cloth, wrapping mud inside it for 30 minutes every 60 days (about 2 months). It will increase blood flow and provide cooling.  

To completely avoid sitting in front of the screens the whole time.  

There’s a therapy in Ayurveda ‘nasya chikitsa’ in which cow’s ghee is used to apply 4-5 drops inside the nose for cleansing and removing all the toxins from the body.  

Apart from these, one can take anemia for 3-5 days to remove toxins from your body which can balance the pH of the body.
