Water is said to be the elixir of life. Just like the other elements, a balance in this element should be maintained for optimal functioning of our mind, body and soul. It plays a very crucial role in the health aspect of our lives.
The lack of water in our body can lead to dryness of skin and slow brain activity. The vital force in our body drives the 5 elements in the body. The water element falls in the group of 60-100 years of life span. It means that this element is dominant in those years of your life and most problems caused will be through this element.
The water element has significance in Hindu mythology and has been given at most importance since ages. Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are all water signs. The deity overlooking this element is said to be the moon lord or “Chandra Dev”. The personality, strength and weaknesses, psychological traits and much more of a certain individual is known through their astrological signs.
Water comprises 70 percent of both the world and our bodies, and the rest is Earth. The emotions, feelings and sentimental values of a person are related to the water element of that person. A balance in the water element can bring balance in our relationships with people.
It is also true that the people around you influence your way of thinking, perspective and mindset.
The emotion with which you receive and consume this element will influence its impact on you (positive or negative). Water is said to be versatile. It comes in three forms, liquid, solid and gaseous. In H20 water, ice and rain, moisture, fog or steam respectively.

Both the fire and water elements are two sides of a coin and there is a mutual presence of the same. Fire element sparks ambition while the water element keeps you grounded.
Balance of water element promotes good memory, healthy skin and optimum functioning in the body. It is deeply interconnected with the mind and its thoughts. Out of the 7 chakras of the body, the water element resides in sacral chakra. Its pace is known to be 16 minutes.
It is “ardhchakra” in shape, white in color, and its mantra is “vum”. The vibration caused while chanting the mantra activates the chakra. The “rog” concerned is cough. Roop, Ras, Shabdh, Sparsh are the four prominent qualities of this element.
The left nostril relates to the water element. Earth and water elements together create cough. Water symbolizes change, stability and adaptability. Any issues in the liver, kidney or bowel related problems are usually related to this element.
To charge water one can use a white or orange glass bottle with a cork as a top and place it in direct sunlight for 6-8 hours if possible. You can even use cotton instead of a cork for optimum results.
You can consume 200 to 250 ml (about 8.45 oz) of this water for benefits like detoxification, balance in insulin levels, cough, blood purification, receptive power in eyes, mood swing during menopause and much more.
Water is a universal solvent and acts as a medium for detoxification, cleaning and clarity in thinking. Water is a purifier. Vegetables possess a fair amount of water content. It consists of nutrients, minerals and other necessary components.
