What is a healthy diet?

A nutritious diet is important for optimal health and nutrition. It protects against a wide range of chronic non-communicable diseases, including heart disease, diabetes and cancer. A healthy diet involves eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, sugar, saturated fat, and industrially generated trans fats.

Our daily eating patterns are divided in the ratio of 70:30 in the form of cooked and raw food. The second thing to include in this pattern is to include healthy food in it. Your eating habits don’t depend on how much you eat but on what you eat in your diet. You need to set the perfect food combination in your routine.

FOR EXAMPLE:

  • The milk and onion combination is the wrong way of eating.
  • The honey and ghee combination is also wrong.
  • You shouldn’t combine fruits and vegetables at a time. (Exception — tomato and lemon)
  • You should avoid the milk and citrus food combo.
  • You should avoid chilled water daily as per your body temperature which can cause various problems.
  • Eating ice-creams and other contaminated food properties can cause severe issues to the stomach.

FOOD ALTERNATIVES:

  •

The alternatives would help you with your digestion and other diseases. The foods we think are healthy and beneficial for us are the most dangerous. The rich and more processed it looks the more harmful it is to consume.

Some foods you can substitute for are as follows:

MILK — Having the daily dairy milk we use in our house which is of cows and buffalos is harmful because even they’re injected with hormonal injections for ripped rich with nutrients milk.

This is the reason animal product nowadays is dangerous for your health. Though milk provides whole protein today’s environment is unfavourable. The reason to not use such animal milk is that it is difficult to digest them as it takes about 16–17 hours to digest 100 ml of milk. Within that time period, you would consume other meals too which will be difficult for you to digest then. The alternative for animal milk is walnut milk, cashew nut milk, peanut milk, coconut milk, etc basically all the nut milk which are easily digestible.

CURD — As we can find an alternative for milk the curd is its product. The nut milk we would use as a substitute can have the alteration for nut curds i.e. the curd that can be extracted from the same peanut and other nut milk.
  1.

SALT — Since we cannot eat our food without taste which is the normal white salt. Salt provides us with sodium for our body therefore, the alternative to our normal salt is pink salt as well as rock salt which is easily digested.

  1.

White rice — White rice has a high glycemic index, which means it might induce blood sugar rises. Previous studies have connected high glycemic index diets to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Because the bran and germ are removed, many people consider white rice to be an “empty” or “bad” carb. White rice, on the other hand, is often fortified with additional minerals such as iron and B vitamins. While brown rice, contains more nutrients than white rice, both are considered nutritious.

  1.

SUGAR — The sugar we use nowadays are much more refined and richer in Sulphur which is much more harmful. Instead, organic jaggery can be used for sweetness and daily consumption. If you are willing to use sugar only you can use palm sugar, raw sugar or brown sugar.

[MAIDA — People who consume MAIDA or White Flour on a regular basis increase their risk of weight gain, obesity, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and elevated cholesterol. Instead, a wholegrain flour can be used

WHEAT — The grains are necessary indeed but wheat is high in gluten and not easy to digest. Instead of wheat, you can use other grains. Also region wise there is consumption of chapatis as jowar and ragi in Maharashtra, bajra in Gujarat, similarly different grains are available in different regions.

MILKSHAKES — Avoid the use of animal milk in your fruit-flavoured shakes. Use fruits, dry fruits and nut milk combinations to make your healthy and daily shakes. Figs, dates, raisins, etc and soak them in water and then churn them in water or nut milk. You can even consume lemonade instead of cold drinks. You can use the most refreshing juice which is easily available sugarcane juice in summer. Also, the healthier water in the summers and even throughout the year is coconut water.
