PAIN MANAGEMENT:
Pain is found in every age group of humans. Some may have frozen shoulders, some may have joint pain, some may have sciatic pain or some may have back pain too. People prefer having tablets or painkillers for the same. After consuming these meds people realize that the pain is gone. But this is due to the hormone which releases/secretes from our body and which makes them understand that yes, they’re satisfied with what they have consumed and that will definitely relieve them.
That hormone is called as Endorphin, which makes an individual happy, contented and satisfied. For example — When a small baby while playing has fallen and suddenly starts crying and sees that her/his mum carries that baby in her hand to make the baby calm down and laugh. The smile, laugh or happiness comes quickly to the baby’s face this is due to the

Endorphins hormone which releases them much faster and makes them feel happy. Also, when someone pats our back or else strokes, we feel much happier with that feeling of contentment. These are the chemicals which make us do the actions. Apart from it, pain in women is seen in large numbers due to ageing and menopause. The more often pain is due to menopause only. Other than that, everybody faces some or other pain such as a frozen shoulder, sciatic problem or arthritis and many such issues. The main reason for all these problems is the indigestion. Indigestion therefore led to headache and severe headache causes migraine. Migraine is seen in 488 million people in India. The major reason for migraine is indigestion whenever there is a misbalance in “Pitta”, a person suffering from pitta dosh would be facing difficulties of indigestion.

Coming to naturopathy again, after many consultations, people ask for medicines and do not really wait for the therapies and treatments. The major crowd in India, as well as the basic mentality of the patients,
is that they ask for the medicines instead of patiently waiting for the results and the treatment phase. Understanding the matter that you being a Naturopathic doctor should also go with the natural treatment process rather than depending on any medicines or something. The patients satisfy only with medicines a doctor looking up to that matter advises them with natural herbs and therapies.
Natural therapies for the problems:
FOR MIGRAINE: Advise pathyaadi kaadha which is readily available in the market and reduces migraine pain. After which if required give them massage or acupressure therapies.

What is Acupressure?

For every pain being a Naturopath consultant, we give acupressure massage. Acupressure means using fingers, elbows, thumbs or needles to apply pressure on acupoints of the body. There are about 107 ‘marma chikit’ points. Acupunturing has needle use. The patient at first seeing the needle is afraid to continue the treatment.
What is massage?
Massage is a natural therapy. Massage is of many types we see in our day-to-day life. We not only get relief but it also balances our emotions. Whenever a child makes a mistake and her mother slaps him that’s her type of release of emotion, the anger which cools her down after beating.
Whereas even when a child does something good or a mother feels happier about him/her she pats on the back. This is also a kind of massage. When cows are happy, they lick themselves and their young ones. Even, the tree branches clash smoothly as the wind blows, this is their type of massage.

In India, we see younger massaging the legs of the elders even though that’s a type of massage. The mothers usually ask their children to massage their heads for relaxation due to their daily routine work.
Lepan or the mixture for the pain:

When we ask somebody about the pain, they prefer having ‘lep’ which reduces their pain. There is a herb which has an analgesic effect by nature which is a ginger herb. In the ginger juice and some bhemseni camphor powder and turn that into a paste and apply it wherever the pain is, it will give you better results. Ginger has a higher analgesic effect which affects quickly. There is also a plant known as Sweet flag called as ‘vekhand’ in Marathi, adding some of it. Then add the raw turmeric and adding some jaggery and a bit of limestone or ‘chuna. Adding the whole ingredients mentioned above and making out of it.
This will absorb pain much faster as it dries. Such types of lep can be used to control pain. There is also a ‘mrigashringa’ bhasma used as an ingredient for headaches and similar other pains. The result of this would be seen in an hour.
The jasmine flower also known as ‘chameli’ in local languages has medicinal usage. Have fresh jasmine flower then add some raw rice in it which then absorbs its juice after that grind it into a fine paste and apply it on your forehead for headaches.

The ones who cannot apply the lep and travel outside can have a substitute for it as oil.
This will work as a painkiller oil.

The sesame oil or ’til ka tel’ will take a half litre of the same and keep it aside. Then take a small fry pan add some kali mirch powder or the ‘black pepper’ powder then add some oil 1 tbsp. later add black pepper powder to it and burn it. After burning that oil and powder add them to the half litre of sesame oil and add mint leaves to it and keep them to boil.
Make sure the bubbles should totally vanish after it has boiled and then it is ready. Strain it. Keep it for 6–7 hours and let it cool automatically. After which strain the oil and store it. This is one of the best pain relief oils.
Other than that, a common oil which has turmeric, fenugreek seeds, carrom seeds, castor leaves and garlic in the oil and boils it and similarly, strain it and let it cool for 6–7 hours and store it.
FOR FROZEN SHOULDER: Advise your patients for hot bags to apply on the shoulder or the cold bags to it. Hot and cold should be either or not together of it. Else, you can even use a pan. Heat it. And simultaneously use a cotton cloth to pat on the shoulder for relief.

Ask the patient to apply oil after this.
Later you can even ask them to drink juice. For preparation first take one glass of water then add any turmeric and then add a pinch of black pepper powder. Further adding fenugreek seeds and carrom seeds. Then using any painkiller such as cumin seeds or lemon grass for the same. This combination of ingredients will definitely vanish the gastric problem.
MUD THERAPY:

For nerve pain, we use the ‘Parijatak’ herb. The leaves of it can be used as a paste and then added to the water. Keep it to a boil. Strain it. And later used it as your drink. Or else use that Parijatak leaves and spread oil over it and apply wherever the pain is.
To use a mud vessel for any type of mud used as therapy. Then add the Parijatak leaves-soaked water and add mud to let the mud dissolve in it. Use a wooden spatula for mixing and keep it aside for 4–5 hours then use it for the treatment. For the application of it don’t use your hands use a spatula only. After applying wherever the pain might be cover it and keep it for half an hour. It will absorb all pain from the nerves.
THE POTLI MASSAGE:
These are 2 types dry potli and wet potli.
For wet potli use raw turmeric pieces, castor leaves, jimsonweed seeds, garlic, lemon grass, tulsi leaves and dark leaves. Chop all off into pieces, boil it and then fry in the oil and make a pottli. It is then ready to use for the treatment.

- Go with the available sources you’ve for herbs.

For dry potli use 5 tbsp. of sea salt and then add 2 tbsps. Of fenugreek seeds, carrom seeds, cumin seeds, and ginger powder. If possible, add beach sand which contains silicon. Well, any soil is useful for pin absorption. Also, Chinese chaste tree or ‘nirgundi’ powder and then add into a pan
- Reminder, to use clean sand which has been brought from the seaside. Make sure it is clean or else to clean first roast that sand on the pan and remove all dirt and insects. Dry it in the sun and then strain and use it.
- Use seasonal and regional types of mud for your therapy as per our skin and physical need.
- For Parkinson’s disease the hands shake and for that one can use oil.
- Drinking a warm glass of water every morning is also healthy. The use of warm water has broader benefits.
- Earlier, mud was used as mud baths but in new ways and new generations applied mud as a natural medicine for skin and other physical treatments.
