Generally, when we talk about weight management the only thing comes in mind is obesity. When we talk about weight management it always goes parallel that is underweight and overweight. Talking about weight management is with the ideal person’s health. The Body Mass Index (BMI) can be helpful for the person to manage the weight. If person’s BMI is below 18 then the person is in underweight category. If the person’s BMI is around 25 then the person is in overweight or obese category. The ideal BMI of a person is 18-24.9. If the person is below this or above it, then the person needs weight management. Apart from weight the person’s waist size also matters. If adult female’s waist size is below 35 inches they are in normal category and if they cross it that need to be controlled. If the adult male’s waist size is around 40 inches they are in normal category and similarly if it crosses that they need to control, it. People nowadays eat and consume anything they want, and they think they are healthy. But no eating over and less may affect accordingly to the person. 

 Weight-loss 

We see people consuming good quantity of food eating rice as well as chapatti but still cannot gain even half a kg. This is the reason of weight loss. 

  • The main reason for the same would-be malnutrition. The ones who do not get fruits to eat do not have a proper appetite. 
  • Another reason would be liver disease like liver cirrhosis, fatty liver and different liver issues is because the fat molecules result in weight loss. The reason for the same is the source of fats due to digestion, digestive juices and excretion of the same. This is because liver is called the factory of the body. And when this factor is disturbed and damaged then where can we find the output for the same. 
  • There are also certain types of infections which damages immunity and metabolism activity of the body. This is where person cannot eat properly and if eats cannot digest and gain properly. 
  • Another reason is iron deficiency that person cannot gain weight. With the help of certain pathological tests that can help you to improve your irons and vitamins in the body. This type of deficiency doesn’t allow the person to gain the weight. Person might need some supplements or iron rich foods in the food routine. Adding leafy vegetables, jaggery and sesame seeds in food would be very much helpful. These can improve metabolism and can improve the weight. Non-vegetarians can have eggs and meats that can cover up better nutrients. 
  • Vitamin B12 and B complex can also the reason for the same. B12 regulates the growth of our body from head to toe. It is in certain small amount, but it is very much essential. Generally, in research it is observed that in vegetarian people have deficiency of B12. In naturopathy or ayurveda, it is said that the people who have weak digestion are prone to have vitamin deficiency rather having supplements for the same. If possible, consume vitamin rich foods like curd, paneer, walnut, hazelnut, almonds, etc have B complex vitamins. 
  • In certain types of disease there is type 1 diabetes mellitus. In this, complete insulin is destroyed, and person requires outer insulin for living. And this is the reason they are underweight. 
  • The hyperthyroidism imbalance can cause underweight. The thyroid is affected on pituitary gland which is the master gland. The person who faces hyperthyroidism faces metabolism issues and due to which 2 things happen one the person is not able to eat properly that is lower appetite and secondly

    the digestion because of which they are not able to gain or sustain the normal weight. 

    • GID is again a type of gastric issue which does not let the food to digest. 
    • Depression again results in weight gain and weight loss both. If we want to be happy the serotonin hormone rushes. And when we are depressed the serotonin level is at least and due to which person cannot even eat properly. Once the person starts eating food, they don’t even get it digested. They immediately feel nausea or vomiting after eating. This is the reason cannot eat in proper proportion because of which whole body is disturbed and person is in underweight category. 

    After analyzing such reasons one can consult any required measures. Therefore, the food can be later suggested after controlling the above internal issues. It is not necessary to add food intakes in their daily routine. 

    Diseases associated with weight loss: 

    Due to underweight the growth rate of the person slows down. As age increases the growth rate of the person must be maintained. In underweight category the person’s growth is delayed. Another thing can be slow recoveries on wounds and injuries. 

    Even the smaller wounds might take time to recover it is all because of the lower immunity. They are always sick and unhappy. The infection therefore increases and people undergo many medications. And this results in collection of many toxicants inside the body. This will again affect the metabolism and fall under weight loss category. There is also certain type of cancers which is caused due to underweight. From cancers to infections and certain types of chronic diseases is caused due to weight loss. It also affects psychological disorders. For example – when the person is in marketing field or the kids who are underweight, he or she is totally disturbed due to wandering and lack of food in proportion faces underweight. These type of person and kids lose concentration levels. And this psychological effect creates trauma, stress, depression and tension and some even commit suicide. 

     Improvements: 

    Make sure you assure the person 50% of its confidence boosting and half of the problem will be automatically solved. There are certain foods which can improve your metabolism for the half of the improving health such as in fruits it includes such as banana, mango and grapes are healthier. When talking about cooked food brown gram, urad dal, cow ghee, cheese, butter, daily cup of curd can improve digestion, soaked nuts, dry fruits, etc are foods which can help your digestion and improve the weight gain aspect. All types of vegetables are healthy they are very rich in plant fibre.one need to suggest them some supplement for better weight gain and maintain metabolism. Naturopathy would be helpful in this aspect and here in Saffron we have organic wheatgrass powder and alfalfa powder combining one tablespoon of both with honey twice a day. It is seen that those people have gain 4-5 kg. Apart from that Shatavari is also good for weight gain. 

     Weight-gain: 

    We see obesity is increasing day by day not only in western countries but Asian countries too. From children to adults, we have seen heavy weight in them. 

    Generally, it is easier to find clothes for XL and XXL people rather than the ones having small and medium sizes because of excessive obesity. Research in the year 2022 showed that the ratio of obesity in India is increasing quarterly. 

    The weight gain is due to genes many a times and those are healthy also. That is the problem is family inherited. Generations to generation we see the pass on of the obesity in that particular age. 

    Hyperthyroidism is also the major reason of weight gain. Even the small proportion after consuming can dump into the stomach. It will not utilize in the body and can cause weight gain. 

    In females, we have seen 10 out of 7-8 are complaining of PCOS which is again a critical hormonal balance. This can lead to many metabolic issues. And of course, PCOS and PCOD is controllable. 

    People nowadays prefer watching TV, mobiles and various other devices and distract themselves while eating. It is scientifically advised that while eating one should concentrate on food only so that saliva mixes with the food and helps to digest the food properly. Once the food is digested the nutrients is therefore absorbed in good amount. When one concentrates on food the immunity is boosted and due to which the vital force is stronger and hence the metabolism is maintained. 

    The dining pattern while eating the food. Families nowadays are much civilised but are forgetting some rituals and patterns in changing times which result in bad stomach and other weight imbalances. One should sit cross legged on earth and keep the food plate 6-8 inches high from earth and consume the same. 

    The excessive use of alcohol can let the person weight gain. The sedentary lifestyle increases the obesity for the same. Stiffness increases and joints become harder. 

    Uneven food habits also harm the weight management. Nowadays we just order online food and eat chaats available on the road without any stomach alarm causes bad impact on the stomach. 

    Make sure one should have dinner time before sunsets properly. And the lunch should be before 2 noon. Adapting the civilised pattern in these things would be helpful. in metro cities it is not possible for the working adults to consume cooked food before sunset. 

    Stress and depression again cause weight gain as well as weight loss. 

    Diseases associated with weight-gain: 

    Due to this people face 3 sisters i.e diabetes mellitus, cholesterol and hypertension. These are the most common lifestyle disease. Maintaining lifestyle with proper consumption of food, digesting the food and proper sleep will help in managing proper health. The BP again is the biggest problem that can affect the heart and its arteries. Eating pills can affect pancreas, kidneys and nephrons also turns weak. 

    Puffiness in eyes, swelled legs, burning sensation on the feet, etc. The heart disease is associated because of the weak arteries and blood circulation. It also causes angina pain, heart attack, heart failure and arthrosis and many similar diseases is caused. Due to overweight the cartilage is damaged at early age because overload weight. Due to weight gain the young age people face arthritis which can even cause to underage people. If one has excessive fat that can lead to have cancerous problem. Fatty liver is also caused due to heavy weight. These all are reversible if done with dedication. 

     Improvements: 

    The fasting therapy can help for the same. Different types of fasting can help to reduce the fatty tissues. Various steam bath can help for the same. 40 minutes of exercising muscles would help you to burn the calories through sweating. Whenever you tired do not forget to consume fluids. Having warm water with 10  tulsi leaves daily in the morning would help in proper digestion for the whole day.  Have lots of plant fibre and herbs.
