Right Combination of Food

           RIGHT COMBINATION OF FOOD

Right combination of food is very important as it helps us to avoid many chronic non-communicable diseases like heart problems and diabetes. It also helps with proper digestion and supports weight loss. Food combination advocates that different food items have some pH levels and therefore, some of them cannot be consumed together as they might be harmful for you.

So basically, the question arises, why is it important to eat the right combination of food? Nowadays we people are shifting to different cuisines and forgetting our traditional Indian food. Traditional Indian dishes are nutrient-dense and often free of processed ingredients, relying on whole foods such as grains, meat and poultry, fish, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables, each contributing to significant health benefits.

Make sure that the food eaten is seasonal and regional. As winter season is going on in India, more green leafy vegetables and different types of berries are available, so eating these according to the season is beneficial for the body.

There is a simple rule that “eat like beggers and live like rich” which   basically means that eat the right food in right quantity only as much is required by the body and live a healthy life. Don’t overstuff your stomach with food. Leave it a little empty.
Ever heard of the Japanese 80-20 rule? It says that to remain healthy & in shape, one must eat 80% of what the stomach demands and leave 20% of the stomach empty.

Why is right combination of food necessary?

Golden rules to live a healthy life:-

  • Eat a single type of grain at a time
  • Food eaten should be seasonal and regional
  • Maintain a proper eating schedule
  • Always have dinner early
  • Raw food should be eaten before eating cooked food
  • Use natural spices to prepare food [cardamon (elaichi), black pepper, black salt, cinnamon (dalchini), cumin (jeera), coriander (dhaniya) seed, Hing etc.].

Rules for combining right food:-

  • Egg + salad [ fat and fiber], yogurt + almond [ fat and protein]
